Madrid

I'm going to be honest I think I have a pretty unpopular review of Madrid but I was not the biggest fan of the city.  It was pretty to walk around and the main attractions like the Royal Palace were awesome to see, but I thought it was kind of lacking in things to do.  I have to mention also that we went during prime summer so it was around 100 degrees and my friend wasn't feeling well so we never really went out besides for just walking around.  With other cities like Barcelona and Seville in the same country, I would personally not come back.

  • Stay

    • The Hat Madrid Hostel: Link

    • Next time: Definitely stay here again, incredible location and super nice staff

  • Things to Do and Reviews

    • Royal Palace of Madrid

      • Super awesome and definitely a must, absolutely stunning inside

      • Buy tickets in advance so you don’t have to wait in the whole ticket line

    • The Prado

      • To be honest, we did not like it very much, but it is one of the most famous art museums in the world so maybe check it out

    • Parque de El Retiro

      • Stunning park with a massive lake in the middle to rent a row boat on

      • Definitely worth at least walking through and seeing all the greenery and beautiful flowers

      • Also contains a crystal palace that I didn’t go to but could be worth going to

    • Siete Tetas

      • Incredible place to watch sunset

      • Decent train away from center city but totally worth it

      • Also in the park were a ton of couples all dancing which was beautiful to see

  • Breakfast Places and Reviews

    • La Rollerie

      • Awesome brunch place with massive servings off their specfic brunch menu

      • We got the Nordic and the New York and both were incredible

  • Lunch Places and Reviews

    • San Miguel Market

      • Great indoor market that has tons of different places for all different kinds of food, some that you have definitely never seen before

      • My favorites were the fried pork belly, the Ossobucco taco from Taco Sam, the arepas, the chorizo in bao bun taco, and the strawberries and whipped cream

  • Dinner Places and Reviews

    • Takos Al Pastor

      • Absolutely incredible tacos, we tried basically every single one

      • Always a line but we got there at 8 and it wasn’t terrible, get there at 9 or later and you are waiting for a long time

      • The favorites were the El Pastor (taco and quesadilla), Suadero, and the Arracherras

    • La Mucca del Carmen

      • Great place and in the same square (Plaza del Carmen) as Takos Al Pastor so good option to defer to if the line is too long

      • The pork ribs and the burger were both awesome

    • Yatai Market (Asian Food Market)

      • Like Market of San Miguel but for Asian food

      • We got the bao buns, chicken fried noodles, gyozas, and ramen which were all great but everything looked super good
