Interlaken

This is easily, and not even close, the most beautiful city I have ever been to.  This city is truly so spectacular and honestly doesn't feel real just based on how clean it is, how clear the water is, and how active and adventurous of a city it is.  We decided to come here for the extreme activities like white water rafting, hang gliding, and skydiving, and then added on a canyon swing literally as we got back from white water rafting.  All of the previous cities I have traveled to have mostly been about going and doing and seeing, however I loved the laid back atmosphere of just getting to hang out and enjoy the beauty of this city, with fun activities sparkled throughout the trip.

  • Stay

    • Diana's Place Airbnb: Link

    • Next time: Loved this apartment and so central and easy bus stop out front

  • Things to Do and Reviews

    • Multiple adventures with Outdoor Interlaken

      • Canyon Swing

        • The craziest thing I have ever done

        • Jump from a 100 meter high platform that swings you between two canyons where you swing right above a class 6 rapid

        • Super scarybut highly recommend

      • White Water Rafting

        • Super awesome experience that has some intensity but definitely no previous experience required

        • One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever done

    • Rent a kayak on Lake Brienz

      • This matches the beautifulness of the rafting as there is nothing but pure green around you with incredible water and views

    • Go to Grindelwald (This is where the canyon swing is)

      • One of the most beautiful and green places I’ve ever seen

    • Harder Kulm

      • Mountain that looks over the entire city of Interlaken

      • Incredible lookout point where you see the whole city, the two lakes that surround the city, and Jungfraujoch

      • Don’t eat at the restaurant at the top, looks awesome but food was average and way overpriced

      • Two ways to get to the top:

        • Hike

          • This was an insanely hard hike that took two hours and was essentially straight uphill, no flat parts or downhills

          • It is a beautiful hike but be prepared to sweat a ton and be extremely dead tired after

      • Funicular

        • If you don’t want to hike, the funicular works every 30 minutes and takes 15 minutes to get to the top of the mountain

    • Skydive

      • Considered to be one of the best places in the world to skydive

    • Paraglide/Bumblebee

      • My friends really enjoyed it but still said Canyon Swing is number one thing to do

  • Lunch Places and Reviews

    • Bebbis Restaurant

      • Good burger and fries, nothing too special but solid lunch

  • Dinner Places and Reviews

    • Little Thai

      • Awesome thai food that is expensive but the best restaurant we had in the city

    • Tandoori Specialist

      • Pretty bad Indian food that took a while to come out, would not recommend

    • Restaurant El Azteca

      • Actually very good mexican food

      • Highly recommend the nachos and the flautas

  • Best Bars/Clubs

    • Husi Bierhaus

      • Great beer and apparently one of the best restaurants in town but we never got food
